School sport ‘spoiled’ by parents

It was reported last week that a Head Teacher in a north London school has written a guide for parents on how to behave when watching their children participate in sporting activities. In response to witnessing incidents of pushy parents at school sports events he suggested that adults be realistic about their child’s abilities, respect the coaches, control their emotions and stop yelling.

CBBC’s Newsround asked children how their parents behaved at school sports events - with mixed results. Whilst some of the children felt their parents encouraged them appropriately, Ollie from Maidstone said “my parents really embarrass me and it is a pain in the bum!”
