Local authorities and child poverty: balancing threats and opportunities

This week in the news it has been reported that the cost of child poverty in Glasgow City Council is nearly £400m per year. These figures come from a report published by the Child Poverty Action Group.

Their research confirms that in Glasgow there are an estimated 36,367 children living in poverty at a cost of £395m per year – the third highest in the UK. You can read the full report (which contains figures for local authorities across the UK) here:
