Happiness index shows ‘small improvement’ in 2013, ONS says

A recent survey by the Office for National Statistics shows an increase in people’s happiness in the UK.

The percentage of people rating their life satisfaction as seven or more out of ten has risen from 75.9% in 2012 to 77.0% in 2013. There was also a reported deduction in anxiety levels with the proportion of people rating their anxiety at a level of six or more out of ten falling from 21.8% in 2012 to 20.9% in 2013.

The article states that the UK is one of the few countries that are going against the trend of rising unhappiness during the economic downturn.
