Social workers face jail in row over parental access

Two social workers will face a court hearing later this month over allegations that they went against the orders of Edinburgh Sheriff Court.

The children involved in the case were experiencing emotional upset following visits with their Mum. Due to the distress of the children, the two social workers who were overseeing the case suspended the parent’s contact with her children so that an urgent case review could be undertaken.

This was allegedly in breach of a previous Sherriff’s courts order. A spokesperson for Edinburgh City Council confirmed that they supported the social workers actions.
