Vulnerable children ‘left in family home too long’

Last week a committee of MSPs found that children were being left in the family home for too long and many should have been taken into care earlier. The convenor of the committee stated that the system was “simply appalling” and that the current decision-making processes do not always deliver the best outcomes for children and families.

It was also reported that when children were asked about the child protection hearings they said they were “intimidating, stuffy and stressful”. The Scottish Government has said they will look at the recommendations closely before they issue a detailed response.
