Runaway Bride Relay & Miles 4 Fun - Sunday 6th June 2pm

Hilton in the Community Foundation arranged a fundraising Runaway Bride relay race round Kelvingrove park. Teams of 3 brides wearing wedding dress did a 5k relay round the park. £2000 was raised with all the proceed going to With Kids.  It was a great day and many thanks to Lisa at the Hilton and the rest of the staff for making it possible.

Ladies 10k

Congratulations to all our runners in the ladies 10k on May 9th 2010. 20 of our mum's and staff ran on our behalf after training for several weeks.  A huge thank you to all our runners and all the people that sponsored them.  We're delighted to say that some have been bitten by the running bug and are now training for a half marathon! We'll keep you posted on their progress.

Easter Treasure Hunt 2010

On April 9th we had a Easter Treasure Hunt in Alexandra Park.  Easter pictures were hidden all over the park and families had to find them.  The family with the most pictures won cinema tickets and all the participants received an easter egg. There was also egg decorating, face painting and egg and spoon races followed by a picnic.  All the families had a great day and thankfully the weather was good too!  Photographs of the day will soon be posted in our galleries.  Check out our photos of the day in our gallery.

Sahara Trek 2010

Congratulations to Betty Jourjon for trekking the Sahara to raise funds for With Kids.  Betty raised a fantastic £3440 for our funds.  Betty spent a week in North Africa trekking the Sahara desert in a once in a life-time experience. Many thanks to Betty for all her hard work, she did an amazing job!

Great Scottish Run 2009

On September 6th 2009 several of our members and supporters took part in the Great Scottish Run to raise funds for With Kids. We'd like to thank everyone that took part and congratulate them on their hard work. You did a great job!

Cookery Classes for Parents

Run by an experienced catering chef from our premises in Annfield Place classes included basic to more advanced recipes and were often suggested by participating parents. Everyone picked up new skills, met new people and had a lot of fun.

Summer Activities

During the summer holidays we had a range of activities for kids and their parents. As well as arts, crafts and games, we also had great days out at Kelburne Country Park, Loch Lomond and Millport.  We were lucky to get some good weather on our trips and went pony trekking, cycling and visited the Sea Life Centre amongst many other things.  You can see the photographs here

Trust and Co-operation Workshops

These fun classes with a some Primary 6's helped them to develop new skills. They learned to build trust and confidence, to cooperate better with each other and improved their communication skills. They also had the chance to develop their creative skills through self-portraits and a series of interviews with each other.

Animation Workshops

With Kids and Wellshot Primary School children have been making an animation which they've written, story-boarded, produced and directed themselves. The animation will be shown in school in June and we hope to have a showing of it in the Glasgow Film Theatre later in the year.  We'll keep you posted on future showings.

Easter Bonnet Hat Parade Quarrybrae primary school - March 2009

Parents and children spent 6 weeks creating fantastic Easter Bonnets at afterschool workshops run by With Kids. On March 31st they displayed their amazing creations during a special parade in the school hall. All the school, family and friends came along. You can see the photos on our gallery page.

Wellshot Primary Wall Mural - April 2009

Wellshot School pupils recently participated in our competition to design a mural for their school wall. Three winners were chosen and their designs incorporated into the design. Congratulations to the winners and well done to everyone who took part. Painting of the mural took place over the Easter holidays and the With Kids team were assisted by some of the school children. The children involved also featured in an article about the mural in the Evening Times.

FRIENDS workshops - Quarrybrae Primary

Primary 6 spent several weeks in February and March participating in FRIENDS workshops, a series of fun classes by With Kids designed to help children understand and process some of their feelings more easily. At the end of the sessions the children were treated to an evening out at Geronimo's soft play in Duke Street which was great fun... and exhausting too!

Elba Lane Nursery Textile Workshops 

The parents of Elba Lane Nursery took part in a textile project making cushions, bags and pyjamas for their kids with two of our textile artists. The mum's thoroughly enjoyed it, learned some new skills and were presented with 'Elba Lane Fashion House' certificates at the end.

Christmas Portraits - December 2008 & 2009

Local families came along to have family portraits taken as an early Christmas present. Over 2 days we set up a studio and several families came along. All the families received a set of the photographs in colour and black and white with the best one enlarged and framed. Thanks to all the families for participating and making it such a great occasion. We hope to make it a regular Christmas event.

Pub Quiz

On the 27th of May we held a pub quiz at the State Bar in Holland Street. A group of teachers from Wellshot Primary won the quiz and the prize was a variety of tickets to different events and shows. Congratulations to the winners and also to the winner of the Ferero Rocher eating competition - 5 Ferrero Rocher in one minute! It's harder than you'd think. We like to say a big thanks to the State Bar who provided snacks and the venue free of charge. Also a special thank  you to The Stand Comedy Club Glasgow and The Kings Theatre for providing a selection of prizes.
